Subject: DSL Internet Access
Q:What is DSL internet?
A:Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology was developed to carry a digital signal over an existing "normal" telephone line or "twisted pair." Your existing telephone line is made from copper and can send and receive a lot of information. Traditional telephone service however, uses only a small amount of the available space to send and receive a telephone call. The remaining part of the "twisted pair" was unused until DSL internet technology came along. DSL takes advantage of sending and receiving internet information through the unused part of your existing telephone line. Since DSL internet access speeds are much higher than Dial Up, you can surf the web, check e-mail, chat and make a telephone call all at the same time. If you use the internet to do research, shop on-line or if you spend more than 2 hours per day on the internet, DSL will "speed-up" your internet and give you a much more pleasurable experience. DSL is one of several broadband internet connections you have to choose from. Not every home can take advantage of DSL however, because your home must be within a certain distance from the telephone company's central office. Check one of our many DSL internet service specials to see if you qualify for a DSL internet solution. If not, don't worry, there are other ways to get on the internet.
