Subject: MSN Dial Up Upgrade

Q: "If I upgrade to DSL how will this affect my MSN monthly fees? Will my e-mail change and I have to cancel my MSN dial up and notify everyone that I have a new e-mail address? What about the accounts I have established under my current e-mail address?" Signed: Diane

A:Hi Diane. Thanks for submitting your question and for visiting our web site. I understand that you would like to upgrade from MSN dial up internet access to DSL, but you have not told me which DSL service provider to which you will upgrade. Please tell me which DSL internet service provider you are inquiring about, or follow this general advice:

You can generally keep your existing MSN dial up internet "email" account regardless of which internet service provider you use. Simply contact MSN Dial Up support and explain your situation - that you no longer need MSN dial up internet "access." MSN dial up internet support is accessible through the "contact us" or "support" or "billing" links when signed into your MSN email account online.

MSN email account prices and features change, but as I recall a basic MSN dial up email account costs about $20 per year. At this price you should be able to retain the same web email functions using either an existing "@msn.com" or a new "@hotmail.com" email address. Basically you would chose a DSL internet access provider, then, contact MSN Dial Up to remove the "dial up access" but retain the full email functions. Web based email systems like MSN and Hotmail are accessible from any internet connection. So as long as you pay them a reasonable fee they will keep your MSN email account active.

If you still need a dial up internet access connection, say for your laptop while traveling, download NetZero free dial up internet access right here on our site.
